14 K-Pop Groups that will Debut in 2022-2023
|Major K-pop agencies ready to launch new groups in mids 2022 to 2023|
HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, CJ ENM, and YG Entertainment are ready to debut new K-pop groups in mids 2022 to 2022. As K-pop's popularity continues to grow worldwide, the five major agencies in South Korea have prepared various projects targeting different markets.
The three targeted music markets are the domestic market (South Korea), and the two largest music markets in the world, the United States and Japan. In order to create a group that can be successful in all three music markets, the five companies have also worked with labels in each country. We'll give you a list of 14 groups that are ready to be debuting from HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and CJ ENM, quoting from The JoongAng.
HYBE is a South Korean multinational entertainment company established in 2005 by Bang Si-hyuk as Big Hit Entertainment Co., Ltd. The company operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company, event management and concert production company, and as a music publishing house. The company has multiple subsidiaries, including Big Hit Music, Source Music, Pledis Entertainment, Belift Lab, and KOZ Entertainment, collectively known as Hybe Labels.
This girl group is most awaited by K-pop music lovers and critics because they are under the tutelage of Min Hee-jin, HYBE's Chief Brand Officer (CBO) who is also a former creative director and board member at SM Entertainment. He is the creative figure behind the debut of legendary groups such as Girls' Generation, SHINee, f(x), EXO, and Red Velvet. ADOR is predicted to bring about new changes in the music industry. It is also predicted that the members will come from trainees selected by HYBE in the Plus Global Audition audition in 2019. ADOR is predicted to debut in the third half (July-September) 2022.
This boy group is said to be promoting in Japan. Currently, five members have been announced, namely K, Nicholas, EJ, Kyungmin, and Taki. While the other members will be selected from a competition program that will be broadcast on Japanese television station Fuji TV starting July 2022.
Girl Groups for the American Market HYBE is also preparing a new girl group for the American market. They work with the label Geffen Records (Universal Music Group). Some of the artists who have been under the auspices of Geffen Records are Elton John, Guns N 'Roses, John Lennon, and Olivia Rodrigo. The members will be sought from the audition program that will be held next November.
Formerly Big Hit Entertainment, BigHit Music is a South Korean entertainment company established in 2005 by Bang Si-hyuk. It was rebranded as Big Hit Music by its parent company Hybe Corporation, formerly Big Hit Entertainment Co. Ltd., in March 2021. Big Hit Music divided from Hybe on July 1, 2021, and, as of that date, the company manages soloist Lee Hyun, and boy groups BTS and Tomorrow X Together. It previously managed soloist Lim Jeong-hee, and groups 8Eight, 2AM, and Glam.
Pledis Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company founded by Han Sung-Soo in 2007. The label is home to actress Nana and K-pop groups Seventeen and fromis_9. Its name originates from the pleiades, a star cluster in the constellation Taurus.
After the success of SEVENTEEN, Pledis is reportedly to be debut a new boy group. Currently, the other group under Pledis is the girl group fromis_9.
SM Entertainment is one of South Korea's largest entertainment companies where it was established in 1995 by record executive and record producer Lee Soo-man. The company has been responsible for fostering and popularizing the careers of myriad of K-pop stars garnering huge global fanbases. The company operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company, event management and concert production company, and music publishing house. SM Entertainment is known for having led the worldwide K-pop phenomenon and the musical side of "Hallyu", also known as the "Korean Wave", with early overseas successes such as H.O.T., S.E.S. and BoA.
- NCT Tokyo
As an extension of the 23 members of NCT, SM Entertainment will debut NCT Tokyo which specifically promotes in Japan. There is no further official information regarding this group.
- NCT Hollywood
Besides NCT Tokyo, there will also be NCT Hollywood. SM Entertainment will collaborate with the MGM company to find new members through the K-POP Goes HOLLYWOOD audition program.
- Other Boy Groups
In addition to the NCT development project, it was also mentioned that there would be a new boy group outside the NCT format. All groups from SM Entertainment are planned to debut in 2023.
JYP Entertainment is a South Korean multinational entertainment and record label conglomerate founded in 1997 by J. Y. Park. It is one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea, and operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company, event management company, concert production company, and music publishing house. In addition, the company operates various subsidiary ventures and divisions worldwide.
Notable artists under the agency include the groups 2PM, Day6, Twice, Boy Story, Stray Kids, Itzy, NiziU, Xdinary Heroes and Nmixx, as well as solo artist Bernard Park.
- Boy Group from LOUD
Five male members will be selected from the winners of SBS's audition program, LOUD. Then they are said to be debuting in the third half of 2022.
- Japanese boy groups
JYP Entertainment collaborated with Sony Music Japan to debut a new boy group for the Japanese market. They are called the male version of the girl group NiziU which is also a collaboration between JYP and Sony.
- American girl groups
Similar to other agencies, they also want to seize the American market by debuting a new girl group. They collaborated with Republic Records which is also still part of the Universal Music Group.
CJ ENM (CJ Entertainment aNd Merchandising) is a South Korean entertainment and retail company founded in 2018. CJ ENM was established as a result of the merger of two CJ Group subsidiaries, CJ E&M and CJ O Shopping respectively, in July 2018.
- Latin Boy Group
For the first time, the agency will target the Latin American market. CJ ENM will debut their boy group in collaboration with Endemol Shine Boomdog. The members will be selected from an audition program on Mexican television.
- Girl Group from I Land 2
After the first I Land successfully debuted ENHYPEN, CJ ENM and BeLift Lab will again make I Land 2. The audition program is expected to start airing in the middle or end of 2022.
YG Entertainment is a South Korean multinational entertainment agency established in 1996 by Yang Hyun-suk. The company operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company, event management and concert production company, and music publishing house. In addition, the company operates a number of subsidiary ventures under a separate public traded company, YG Plus, which includes a clothing line, a golf management agency, and a cosmetics brand.
Current artists include Sechs Kies, Big Bang, Akdong Musician, Winner, iKon, Blackpink, and Treasure as well as actors and actresses including Kang Dong-won, Choi Ji-woo, Cha Seung-won, Lee Sung-kyung, Jin Kyung, Jang Ki-yong, Yoo In-na, Son Na-eun, and Yoo Seung-ho. Other notable artists include Jeon Somi, who is under YG Entertainment's subsidiary The Black Label.
- Baby Monster
After 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment is said to be preparing the debut of Baby Monster, whose members are teenagers. YG Food CEO Noh Hee-young once said that Baby Monster is similar to 10 BLACKPINK's Jennie.
